Prof Dr Sebastian Rezat: About the person

Career

Sebastian Rezat studied mathematics and music at the University of Bielefeld and the Detmold Music Conservatory to become a secondary teacher. He completed his second state examination as a teacher at the Detmold teacher training college. Following his teacher training program, he completed his doctorate under the supervision of Prof Dr Rudolf Sträßer at Justus Liebig University Giessen. His doctoral dissertation on "The mathematics textbook as an instrument of the student" was honored with the award from the German Society for Didactics of Mathematics (GDM) in 2009. Sebastian Rezat has been working at Paderborn University since 2012, where he is responsible for training students in basic mathematics education for primary school teaching and special needs education.

Awards

  • 2022: Fellowship for digital innovation in university teaching for the AnnoPy project (together with Prof Dr Sara Rezat, German Language Didactics, Paderborn University and Prof Dr Carsten Schulte, Didactics of Computer Science, Paderborn University)
  • 2009: Award from the Society for Didactics of Mathematics for his doctoral dissertation entitled The mathematics textbook as an instrument of the student
